🗓 Full Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in the "White City" of Algiers
Arrival in Algeria’s stunning capital city, Algiers. Following your airport transfer and hotel check-in, we embark on a pleasant stroll through the city center, which beautifully blends French colonial architecture with Moorish styles. We enjoy our first authentic Algerian dinner together.
Day 2: The Millennium-Old Secrets of Algiers & The Casbah Labyrinth
A full day dedicated to exploring the capital. We tour the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Casbah, a mysterious hillside fortress city consisting of winding, narrow alleys. We also admire the majestic Notre Dame d’Afrique basilica overlooking the bay and visit the modern Martyrs' Monument.
Day 3: The Great Mosque of Algiers & Relaxation in the Botanical Garden
We continue our exploration of the capital by visiting the monumental Great Mosque of Algiers, boasting one of the world's tallest minarets. In the afternoon, we take a relaxing walk through the lush El Hamma Botanical Garden, a peaceful green oasis in the middle of the city.
Day 4: The Coastal Roman Ruins of Tipaza & The Tomb of Cleopatra's Daughter
Heading west along the Mediterranean coast, we arrive at the breathtaking archaeological park of Tipaza. We wander among the ruins of a Roman theater, villas, and basilicas set against a deep blue sea backdrop. En route, we also visit the monumental, mysterious Royal Mausoleum of Mauritania, the burial place of Cleopatra and Mark Antony's daughter, Cleopatra Selene.
Day 5: The Port City of Mostaganem & Andalusian Heritage
We travel further along the Mediterranean shores to the historically rich city of Mostaganem. We explore the city's Andalusian and Ottoman roots, stroll through the charming harbor district, and enjoy the cool sea breeze under the shade of palm trees.
Day 6: Journey to the Capital of Islamic Art – Tlemcen
We turn toward the scenic mountains and arrive at the country’s northwestern cultural jewel box, Tlemcen. Renowned for its magnificent Moorish-Andalusian architecture, we check into our hotel and take a preliminary walk through its historic city center.
Day 7: The Palaces, Mosques, and Waterfalls of Tlemcen
A full day in Tlemcen. We visit the majestic, fortified El Mechouar Palace, the Grand Mosque, and the breathtaking El Ourit Waterfalls located just on the outskirts of the town. We also explore the famous Mansourah ruins, the remnants of a monumental 14th-century mosque and minaret.
Day 8: Arrival in the Vibrant City of Oran
Returning to the coast, we arrive in Algeria’s second-largest city, the lively Oran. We tour the historic Sidi El Houari district, which bears distinct Spanish and French architectural influences, and climb up to the Santa Cruz Fort for spectacular panoramic views of the entire bay.
Day 9: THE MAGNIFICENT TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE IN ORANThe highlight of our journey
We secure our viewing spot at a prime, scenic location in Oran (such as Abdelkader Park). Equipped with special solar eclipse glasses and accompanied by our guides, we witness one of the century's longest celestial events: a total solar eclipse lasting over 5 minutes, turning daytime into a mystical twilight. We celebrate this historic day with a festive Andalusian farewell dinner.
Day 10: Farewell to Algeria & Departure
Depending on flight schedules, we transfer to Oran International Airport for your flight back to Budapest, carrying a heart full of astronomical wonders and unforgettable cultural memories.
