🗓 Full Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Muscat – City Tour
Meet your guide at Muscat International Airport after luggage and customs, then transfer to the hotel. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is one of the most significant architectural masterpieces of the Sultanate, beautifully combining tradition and modernity. Construction began in 1995 and took six years. Built from marble, sandstone, and wood, it features a large central minaret and four smaller ones symbolizing the five pillars of Islam. Inside, you will find massive chandeliers, colorful stained-glass windows, and beautiful tile work. After visiting the mosque, we continue to the old town to explore Bait Al Zubair Museum, the outside of the Sultan’s palace, and the Portuguese forts built in the 16th century. We proceed to Muttrah, where we take a short seaside walk and visit the famous Muttrah Souq — the country’s most important market known for Omani silver, daggers (khanjar), pashmina scarves, and handmade crafts.
Day 2: Muscat – Birkat Al Mouz – Al Hamra – Misfah
Breakfast at the hotel and check-out. Departure at 8:00 AM. First stop: Birkat Al Mouz, a beautiful village surrounded by palm plantations. Next, we visit Al Hamra, famous for its old mud-brick houses. We continue to Misfat Al Abriyeen, one of Oman’s most traditional mountain villages known for its ancient homes and terraces.
Day 3: Bahla – Jabreen – Nizwa
Breakfast and departure at 8:00 AM. Travel to Bahla, one of Oman’s largest oases. The impressive Bahla Fort, built from mud bricks, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Nearby you can see remains of towers, walls, and a 12 km-long fortification system. From the 12th to the 17th century, Bahla was Oman’s capital. We then visit Jabreen Castle, surrounded by date plantations and considered one of Oman’s most important fortified complexes. Later, we continue to the Western Hajar Mountains.
Day 4: Nizwa – Wadi Bani Khalid – Wahiba Sands
Breakfast. We start our day visiting Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most beautiful wadis with clear blue pools surrounded by palm trees. Swimming is possible with appropriate attire. Afterward, we head to Wahiba Sands, where Bedouin tribes live across vast golden dunes covering more than 10,000 km². We enjoy traditional Omani dinner, Arabic coffee, and dates while experiencing Bedouin hospitality. Optional camel riding is available. We witness the dramatic colors of the desert sunset.
Day 5: Wahiba Sands – Sur
After breakfast, we drive to Sur to visit the traditional dhow shipyard where wooden boats are still made by hand today. City tour and free time on the beach.
